In the Pingxi Lantern Festival tradition in Taiwan, bamboo sticks are the key material for making sky lanterns. They are responsible for fixing the tissue paper structure and maintaining the shape of the lantern. Each sky lantern requires dozens of bamboo sticks to form a circular skeleton, demonstrating the important role of bamboo in folk handicrafts. The "Chengcheng" tool that appears in the Yi ethnic group's Bimo ritual is made of wood, but its function and form are highly similar to bamboo sticks. Both are designed with sharp ends for skewering food, reflecting the independent invention of similar tools by different cultures.
